Why the two tests gave different results is not made clear.

I am confused and I think it is strange. If people does not see you, you do not exist.

Businesses need advertising to make sure customers know they exist and when they know they exist they can consume their products or services. One cause behind overconsumption of products we do not always need according to me is that people wants to be seen. The latest products can give people those minutes in the spotlights. Everybody wants to be seen. Our desire of being seen affect our consume patterns very much so!

Try to see the individual; it will increase the respect between humans and our respect for the environment! More respect will lead to a better world for all of us!

How can we make the right choices without all the information? NEWS: An organic green tea contained toxin!

This morning when I wake up I read the newspaper as usual. The headline of the newspaper caught my attention; a green tea which was claimed to be organic had rests of azinfosmetyl in it. Azinfosmetyl is used to keep insects away from fruit and berry growing[1]. Animal testing has shown that the substance has high acute of poisonousness. Azinfosmetyl incresed perspiration and cramps[2]. The human body does not store it, instead the liver breaks it down[3]. The organic tea contained 0.1 milligrammes of azinfosmetyl per kilogram. The marginal value in EU is 0.07 milligrammes per kilogram. Azinfosmetyl was forbidden in EU during 2007 since the substance was dangerous to every living organism in our world.

In the survey 8 out of 9 green teas contained toxin, 8 of 9 was not organic. The one who did not contained toxin was not organic. All of the green teas contained the toxins below the marginal values but still. Remember the example with sweets written in the blog yesterday, small amounts during a long period soon grows to a hugh amount. Also, imagine what all these toxins do to our environment and all living organisms!

I do not know what is the most terrifying part; that the organic tea contained toxin or the fact that the rest, 7 of them, non organic teas also contained toxin, and that fact does not surprise me at all?

Since when is not organic products organic anymore? Are there more products in our stores that are claimed to be organic but when it comes to the point they really are not? How can we as customers make the right choices for our environment when we do not have all the information? How can we make the right selection when the product we thought was best, the organic green tea in this case, is not the best in practice? How can we get the information? Maybe by setting demands and asking questions. Finally, since when did chemicals in non organic products ceased to surprise us?

Source:
http://sydsvenskan.se/sverige/article564167/Krav-utan-rent-te-i-pasen.html
5th November, 11:01 AM
[1]Kemikalieinspektionen
[2]Kemikalieinspektionen
[3]Kemikalieinspektionen

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://nomanisanislandblogg.blogspot.com/2009/11/how-can-we-make-right-choices-without.html' title='How can we make the right choices without all the information? I read an article about it in Aftonbladet (a Swedish newspaper) and I it made me think. Every Swede ate 17 kilograms of sweets per year. Here is a list over top ten, per person and year:

1. Sweden 17 kilograms
2. England 16 kilograms
3. Germany 15 kilograms
4. Norway 15 kilograms
5. Finland 14.5 kilograms
6. Denmark 14 kilograms
7. Belgium 13.5 kilograms
8. USA 11 kilograms
9. Australia 11 kilograms
10. France 8 kilograms
Source: Godis åt folket/Cabisco, Leaf Finland, 2007

The amount of 17 kilograms per year, comes down to about 320 grams of sweets every week and that is not much! This was a concreate example of how a small amount many times suddenly grows to a hugh amount. What if we all changed at least one thing in our ways of consuming would not that accomplish a change? I think so. I do not think it always has to be that hard.

Another question also emerged in my head. Why does the Swedes sonsume the most sweets in the world? I think it is because we have it all around us and the pick'n mix is the biggest villian since it constitute more the 1/3 of all sweets we eat. The Portuguses only eat 2 kilograms per person and year, if I compare a store in Sweden and another one in Spain (which is close to Portugal), the Spanish store has much less sweets in the shop then the Swedish one has. The Swedish stores have a whole section of just sweets.

Source:
http://mobil.aftonbladet.se/kropphalsa/nyheter/article6040252.ab;jsessionid=E6A7564632AB0DA72284921AC6FBCFE2
4th November, 13.01 PM

No man is an island, the blog

Welcome to our blog!
